Lafrentz Road Marking

Durables Division

Base: Acheson, AB

Position: Labourer, Full-time Seasonal

Start Date: This position has an anticipated start date of May 1, 2024, (weather dependent)

Main Responsibilities

This position is part of the Lafrentz Road Marking Durables Division. We are based in Acheson (5 minutes west of Edmonton) and may require working out of town approximately 50% of the time, as well as occasional night shifts. As a Labourer you will be responsible to comply with safe work procedures and practices while you contribute to the teams road marking projects. Versatility, flexibility, reliability, and a positive attitude are required in this position. Your responsibility is to provide support to the Durables Division in order to ensure effective and efficient operations.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED an asset
  • Valid driver's license (Class 5) with a recent commercial drivers abstract
  • Must own reliable transportation (no public transit in Acheson)
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to perform manual labour (ability to lift up to 40kg/90lbs)
  • Willing to work out of town occasionally, for up to 2 weeks at a time (Work in AB, BC, SK, YT, NWT & MB)
  • Willing to work occasional night shifts
  • Construction experience is an asset
  • Experience with safety regulations and safe practices is an asset
  • Ability to work in uncertain outdoor conditions
  • Ability to work overtime hours
  • Ability to comply with our Drug and Alcohol Policy, including a no tolerance policy on Cannabis use

Job Responsibilities

  • Learn our processes and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment 
  • Understand the job and the hazards that are present
  • Maintain proper awareness of your surroundings
  • Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections
  • Keep current and accurate driver logs, using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD or eLog)
  • Execute and maintain temporary traffic accommodation (signs, arrowboards, barricades, traffic cones)
  • Perform flag-person tasks
  • Assist operators, lead hand, and foreman in their duties
  • Other as determined by a supervisor

Work Schedule

Our work schedule is typically 6 days on and 1 day off each week. Lafrentz Road Marking is a federally registered motor carrier, and as such follows the National Safety Code (NSC) Commercial Vehicle Standards, including the Hours of Service Regulations, which allows for 70 hours of work in a 7 day cycle.

Total Compensation

  • Salary starting at $20 per hour, paid weekly
  • Regular overtime hours
  • Night shift premium
  • Per-diem paid when working outside the Edmonton area
  • Hotel rooms booked and paid for by the company
