Job Summary:

Directs operational activities related to production and delivery of aggregates, asphalt and/or ready-mix products, including safety, compliance, sales, customer service and quality control; responsible for planning, execution, and monitoring of overall production and profitability of manufacturing operations within assigned area.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
•    Support, promote, and practice the Company’s core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
•    Promote safety of all operations in assigned area; actively involved in continuously improving safety processes
•    Support and promote company strategy initiatives
•    Direct all aspects of operations related to manufacturing in assigned area to support achievement of established performance indicator targets related to safety, production, quality, and financial performance
•    Establish budgets and production schedules, prepare monthly forecasts, and monitor operational performance
•    Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to manufacturing operations 
•    Oversee hiring, performance management, and development activities for manufacturing employees
•    Establish, administer, and measure key performance indicators and goals/objectives for manufacturing teams to support continuous improvement 
•    Ensure collaboration, communication, team development, and recognition by establishing effective communication channels, leading team meetings, etc.
•    Develop and coordinate implementation of plans for efficient use of materials, equipment, and employees
•    Actively monitor market trends and anticipate production needs; adapt processes and coordinate production schedules in conjunction with sales, construction, and quality control teams to meet internal and external  demand
•    Actively participate in bidding and estimating processes including review and analysis of bid results
•    Prepare profit and loss reports for manufacturing operations; present operational budgets to senior management
•    Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams and external vendors, customers, representatives of local/county/state government and industry partners
•    Coordinate with asset management team to develop capital expense budget to support sustainability and growth
•    Review production costs and product quality, and modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operations

Education:

•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field of study; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
•    Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required

Skills:

•    8+ years of experience in aggregate mining, construction materials manufacturing (ready-mix, aggregates, and/or asphalt) or similar area preferred
•    5+ years of experience effectively handling, leading, motivating and developing teams
•    Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local agency regulations (OSHA, MSHA, DEQ, DOT, etc.)
•    Experience handling budgets and performing in-depth financial analysis
•    Self-directed, driven by results, and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidance
•    Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and work under consistent pressure of deadlines
•    Demonstrated proficiency using computer programs, including MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), and production/scheduling planning software

Physical Requirements:

•    Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), as required by company safety guidelines
•    Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
•    Regularly required to drive a vehicle to worksites and offices; may be required to occasionally operate heavy equipment 
•    Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
•    Regularly required to sit for long periods at a desk using a computer
•    Work performed in office and field environments; frequent exposure to typical production plant/aggregate site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all weather conditions
•    Regularly required to stand and walk over uneven terrain
•    Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
•    Extensive travel with overnight stays away from home may be required
•    Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
•    Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
