Position Summary

In this full-time seasonal position as a scale operator your duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to maintaining the day-to-day operation and administrative duties associated with operation of the scale. Operating the weigh scales, scale computer and software programs, data entry, and record keeping and will also be required to screen and record incoming loads at the scale house, and direct vehicles entering and exiting the facility.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs operating sequences to receive and exit vehicles through incoming and outgoing scale.
  • Assists in checking all components of the weigh scale system to ascertain all are in working order.
  • Maintains a controlled environment in the scale house to ensure proper operation of the computerized scale system.
  • Assists in performing key starting instructions on command printer as necessary.
  • Issues receipts to vehicle drivers and collects tickets.
  • Enters dips, assisting with volume corrections. 
  • Testing samples, inputting results in JDE and assisting in LOT control. 
  • Answers the phone, records messages, and provides routine information.
  • Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word documents, outlook calendars, e-mails, and database software in performing work assignments.
  • May perform incidental tasks, as needed.

Shift Information

Night Shift – Sunday night to Thursday night (10:30pm – 7:30am). 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum High School/College Diploma. 
  • 4th Class Operating Engineer Certificate will be considered an asset. 
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work in small teams. 
  • A reliable method of transportation to and from work in a timely manner. 
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, being responsible, resourceful, and autonomous. 
  • Ability to work outdoors at heights and in all weather environments. 
  • Knowledge in pumps, piping, heat tracing, hot oil heaters will be considered an asset. 
  • Lastly a good sense of humor would be great!
