Summary

Are you an experienced and professional Roller Operator? Do you have a high attention to detail and enjoy seeing your contributions? Are you wanting to be a valuable member, where your work is valued?  We are currently looking for a Breakdown Roller Operator for the upcoming 2024 Construction season.

Key Responsibilities

•    Operate the rollers and other heavy equipment in a safe manner
•    Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment
•    Determine the speed and direction of the machines so that ridges do not form from excessive pressure
•    Use hand roller or portable power roller to pound surfaces not accessible to road roller.
•    Operator self-propelled steel-wheeled, rubber-tired, vibrator, segments or other type of roller to company earth, subgrade, sub-base and asphalt surfaces.
•    Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the Roller.
•    Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety program and encourage all employees, sub- contractors and consultants to adoptsafety as a culture.
•    Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company's Code of Ethics.
•    Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics
•    Other quality control related duties as required.

Qualifications | Requirements

•    High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
•    Class 5 Drivers License preferred
•    Minimum 2 years experience within the road construction industry
•    2-3 years experience operating Breakdown Roller, Rubber Tire Roller and Finish Rollers is required.

Working Conditions

•    Schedule of Monday - Saturday up to 12 hours per day (weather dependent). Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable employment standards legislation.
•    Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
•    Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis. 
•    Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
•    Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
•    Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
