Job Summary:

Plans, oversees and directs phases in daily operations of a commercial aggregates, ready-mix, and asphalt to include safety, quality control of projects.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 2-3 years of experience in the Manufacturing industry Preferably in production of Aggregates, Ready-Mix, or Asphalt.  

Main Responsibilities:

•    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
•    Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
•    Work closely with plant management to develop a professional approach to operations management, including professional and ethical conduct. Lead monthly operational employee meetings to review safety, business performance, company initiatives, standard processes, employee recognition, etc. 
•    Drive continuous improvement through effective management and Key Performance Indicators.
•    Management of CAPEX projects
•    Manage production and scheduling related programs and processes that result in increased efficiency.
•    Promote safety of all operations in assigned area; actively involved in continuously improving safety processes.
•    Read and analyze information to plan operations for manufacturing on basis of starting and completion times as well as staffing requirements for each phase of the project 
•    Order procurement of equipment and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform with work schedules.
•    Assist with coordination and directing of supervisory personnel and subcontractors that are engaged in planning and implementing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction and manufacturing
•    Assist with preparation and maintenance of project schedules, budget, monthly projections, submittals, purchase orders and materials
•    Assist with coordination between supervisors, engineering personnel, inspectors, and/or suppliers of tools to resolve manufacturing problems and improve methods
•    Assist with inspections of work to ensure that craftsmanship conforms to specifications and adherence to manufacturing schedules
•    Assist with review and analysis of production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to resolve causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems
•    Complete special projects and other duties as assigned

 

Education:

•    Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related field i.e. civil or mechanical, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
•    Valid driver’s license and clean driving history required

Skills:

•    2-3 years prior experience in ready-mix, aggregates, and/or asphalt production, including delivery and/or sales 
•    Knowledge of rules/regulations governed by federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, including OSHA/MSHA, DEQ, and DOT applicable to position
•    Self-directed, driven by positive results, and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidance
•    Ability to effectively prioritize, problem-solve, and work under consistent pressure of deadlines
•    Proficiency in MS Office Programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Physical Requirements:

•    Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
•    Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
•    Regularly required to use hands to feel,  handle and manipulate objects
•    Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) 
•    Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
•    Frequently required to Stand/work on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
•    Frequently work in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery, exposure to loud noise
•    Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all weather conditions
