Primary Job Function

The successful individual in this role will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Human Resources functions for the region to include: Ensuring compliance of company policies & procedures.  Recruiting and onboarding of new employees. The HR Specialist maintains an effective level of business literacy about the region’s financial position, midrange plans, culture, and competition. Will also maintain and assist in ensuring a healthy and safe work culture.
 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Manage the recruiting process for the region including job requisitioning, job postings, interviewing prospective employees and recommending viable candidates to hiring managers.
  • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
     

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. 
  • HR generalist with construction, engineering or similar industry background strongly preferred. 
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Four-year degree or equivalent work experience in relevant field and/or course work.
  • Excellent people management, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to analyze information and make decisions based on data.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships.  
  • SPHR, SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
