About The Role

The String Line Setter is a skilled position performing tasks including distribution and assembly of string line pins and lines according to specific site requirements.  


As a String Line Setter at SGC you will:

  • Load and unload string line pins on site.
  • Place and assemble string line on site.
  • Use of tape measures and levels for working on string line.  
  • Utilize hammers and other line tools.
  • Maintain company image.
  • Other duties as required.


To Be Successful In The Role You Will Need:

  • Valid driver’s license (Class 5).
  • Own transportation.
  • 2-3 years’ experience.
  • Experience with road building.
  • Ability to work with a variety of tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret job site blueprints and utilize information.
  • Above average hand eye coordination and high level of attention to detail.
  • Mathematics skills are an asset.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Ability to work a 12+ hour day.
  • Must have the ability to work at heights.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
  • Required to perform tasks that involve heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 25 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
