The Colas Group operates internationally in all aspects of transport infrastructure. As part of the global organisation, Colas Ireland is primarily involved the distribution of bitumen products, emulsion and emulsifier manufacturing, and the provision of specialist road maintenance services on the national, regional and local road network. In Ireland Colas operates from 14 locations across the island of Ireland.
Role Summary
Working closely with the Colas Ireland managers under the supervision of the Head of Procurement.
Procuring materials, plant, sub-contract, and services requirements across all business units in a spot manner or through the use of existing and new framework agreements in place for Colas Ireland.
Supporting the development and implementation of effective strategic procurement solutions to benefit Colas in terms of process optimization, innovation, and carbon reduction solutions.
Ensuring procurement is carried out in compliance with Colas Ireland governance and procurement processes and procedures.
Working in Collaboration with the procurement network of the wider Bouygues Group in Ireland, in UK and within the Europe EMEA (Europe, Middle East & African) region.
Responsibilities
- Procure materials, plant, sub-contract, and service framework requirements across all business units and specific project needs.
- Maximize the use of existing and new framework agreements for the benefit of Colas Ireland.
- Develop and implement effective strategic procurement solutions to support bidding opportunities, projects, and operational businesses.
- Ensure compliance with Colas Ireland governance and procurement processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with the procurement network of the wider Bouygues Group in the UK and Europe.
- Deliver procurement tenders on time, in compliance with requirements, and within budget.
- Leverage the wider Group procurement organization and utilize international sourcing capabilities.
- Review and approve procurement requests from COUPA.
- Lead specific procurement categories and ensure strategy production, implementation follow-up, and supplier relationship management.
- Implement existing framework agreements and propose additional agreements.
- Source low carbon solutions and oversee their testing and implementation on-site.
- Comply with all Colas and Group policies, including ethical guidelines.
- Report individual procurement activity, including schedules and SAMP, and individual performance against department KPIs.
Competencies
Qualifications/Skills & Experience

At least 3-4 years of experience in a similar role

Relevant academics such as bachelor’s degree and/or professional qualifications in procurement / supply chain management such as CIPS.

Proven experience as a buyer or senior buyer in a similar role, preferably within the road maintenance or similar industries.

Familiarity with Procurement ERP systems (e.g., COUPA, SAP, Oracle, etc.).

Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
