Concrete Labourer

Standard General Inc. (Edmonton) is looking for a full-time CONCRETE LABOURER for a seasonal Road Construction crew.

Position Summary: The CONCRETE LABOURER must be physically able to complete a variety of tasks pertaining to the completion of the job, primarily assisting more skilled workers in placing and finishing concrete materials.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

- Load, unload and move construction materials around the worksite;

- Prepare jobsite for pouring of concrete;

- Cleaning of concrete forms after placing and finishing of concrete;

- Placing concrete using shovels and rakes;

- Vibrate concrete for consolidation;

- Level concrete and provide assistance to the Concrete Finishers;

- Operate pneumatic hammers and vibratory equipment as directed;

- Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labour;

- Identify hazards on site;

- Other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

- Must be able to tolerate dusty, noisy, outdoor work environments.

- Must have a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License (or equivalent).

- Must have reliable personal transportation (to be able to travel between local job sites)

- Must be able to perform heavy manual labour.

- Must be able to communicate well with co-workers.

- Must be able to work under pressure in some situations.

- Must be able to work overtime, evenings, and weekends and required.

- Must be able to meet all pre-employment safety requirements (including Drug/Alcohol testing)
