Job Description:

Reeves Construction Company is looking for an Asphalt Paving Foreman for its Garden City, GA. location. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively engage teams and promote an environment of respect, communication, and collaboration through two-way communication and encourage new ideas and different perspectives that drive individual, team, and company success. More specifically, qualified candidates should coordinate activities of workers engaged in spreading, rolling, tamping, and patching asphalt or similar material to form surfaces of highways, streets, parking lots, aircraft landing strips, and driveways.

Job Responsibilities:
 
  • Adhere to Reeves Construction Company safety programs to ensure safe work environment
  • Monitors all steps of the operation to ensure Standard Quality and Operating Practices and guidelines are being followed
  • Training new crew members
  • Calculating the number of trucks required to haul asphalt from the hot plant according to vehicle capacity, traffic conditions, distance from work site, and productivity of drivers
  • Touring job sites to ascertain progress in meeting time schedules, to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment, measure slope and material thickness to verify compliance with contracts and to supervise the job
  • Supervising and coordinating crew activities, studying production schedules, and estimating work requirements for completion of job assignment in compliance with or beating job estimates.
  • Maintaining time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing
  • Maintain and administer company policy
  • Recommend measures to improve productions methods, equipment performance, product quality and crew performance
  • Will directly supervise approximentaly10-15 asphalt paving employees

The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.
 
Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Requirements:
 
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required and three (3) years of related asphalt and paving experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Field supervision experience is strongly preferred
  • Prior asphalt paving experience required with strong supervisor skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals to computer rate, ration, percentage, land to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Ability to type and use keyboards accurately and possess knowledge of Database software
  • Strong knowledge of plans and specifications, OSHA Requirements, Safety Protocol
  • Ability to supervise road/highway construction projects from general plans and instructions given and to determine the proper amounts of various materials, tools, and equipment needed.
  • Preferred candidates will have knowledge of Department of Transportation requirements and policies.
  • Candidate must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work in a number of diverse locations is pertinent, as work locations may change daily.
  • Expected Hours: Hours will vary by job, location and season. Working a night shift may be required.
  • Ability to reach and interpret documents, organize and analyze data
  • Good interpersonal and teambuilding skills
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s licenses
  • Must have adequate transportation to work
  • Adhere to safety procedures/guidelines at all times
