Purpose of the role

 

Colas Ltd. have an opportunity for a Stores Supervisor to join the team based at our Grantham depot, NG31 7LG. You will be responsible for overseeing all stock movement in and out of the warehouse, ensuring that inventory systems are accurate and up to date. This role involves lone working and manual handling, including offloading stock from vans, managing stock locations, and keeping the warehouse and yard in excellent order. You’ll be the key contact for materials control and logistics on-site, supporting the wider ITS operations team by ensuring they have the equipment and supplies they need—on time and in working order. You will at times be asked to take stock to site in and around the Lincolnshire and Leicestershire area.  
 

Main Responsibilities

 

As the Stores Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment at the Grantham depot, ensuring all goods in and out are accurately recorded using both paper and electronic systems. This hands-on role involves regular manual handling, including offloading stock from vans, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized warehouse and yard. You will book out stock and equipment to contracts, arrange transport and logistics for deliveries and collections, and coordinate the repair or replacement of faulty tools and equipment—ensuring all necessary records and documentation are maintained. You will also carry out regular stock checks, identify any anomalies, and support the improvement of stores processes. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies, maintain LOLER and calibration records for equipment, and provide general support to the ITS team through ad-hoc warehouse duties as required by your line manager.

Ideal Candidate

 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum 2 years' experience working within a stock control environment. You will proficient in using Microsoft software packages (excel etc.), knowledge of Stores Accounting software is desirable. You will have experience in assessing, developing, and implementing stock control systems with the ability to advise and, influence improvements within a business. A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
