PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Direct and coordinate all phases of the second shift activities at United Rock products; the area of responsibility includes Pit 2 Reclamation activities, off-site excavating and haul activities, loadout sales and plant operations.  

Responsible for inspecting, scheduling of crews, and coordinating maintenance activities of the operations within the designated areas.  

The foreman is also responsible for maintaining and ordering parts, lubricants, and supplies in order to maintain equipment in assigned work area.  

The foreman is to ensure that all work is carried out by crew in a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient manner. The Foreman is also required to ensure that all direct report employees have the proper personal protection equipment, complete all needed paperwork and attend daily preplanning meetings and weekly safety meetings.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: 
⦁    Reports directly to the Aggregate Manager and Reclamation Superintendent
⦁    Inspect work area on a daily basis
⦁    Works with the respective managers on scheduling of employees
⦁    Maintains production and inspection logs and makes sure that they are submitted on a daily basis
⦁    Responsible for ordering parts and supplies for maintaining the plant and its associated work areas
⦁    Works with the Aggregate Manager on maintaining an effective Preventive Maintenance Program for the plant and its associated work areas
⦁    Responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment for all individuals who work or visit the work area
⦁    Inspect equipment prior to shift for safety, environmental and maintenance defects 
⦁    Monitor ground conditions in area you are maintaining 
⦁    Complete Daily pre/ post equipment inspections - report as needed 
⦁    Complete Environmental compliance reports - as requested 
⦁    Maintain adequate cleanliness of equipment
⦁    Report any defects to shop and / or plant management 
⦁    Monitor environmental compliance (dust) of area 
⦁    Inspect wear items on equipment report as needed to shop 
⦁    Optimize haul from remote sites 
⦁    Ensure areas under your scope remain in environmental compliance 
⦁    Monitor and assist crew in completing needed maintenance and housekeeping tasks to ensure compliant work tasks and safe work environment. 
⦁    Provide documentation to management team at the end of the shift
⦁    Other duties as outlined by Aggregate Manager and Reclamation Superintendent 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE 
⦁    20+ years’ experience in aggregate mining including tasks that will be assigned to crew members 
⦁    5+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
⦁    Bachelor's degree in mining or related discipline strongly preferred.
⦁    Demonstrated ability in identifying, communicating and implementing best operating practices, including quality, maintenance, production and safety excellence.
⦁    Proven safety record and excellent compliance in MSHA safety standards.
⦁    Working knowledge of environmental policies, standards, and best practices.
⦁    Working knowledge of typical computer business software and IPADs. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
⦁    Must have a valid CA driver’s license and be able to drive company vehicle
⦁    Must be able to follow oral and written plans, directions, and blueprints
⦁    Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, balance, crawl, and climb
⦁    Good vision (naturally or with correction)
⦁    Able to lift 75 pounds on a routine basis
⦁    Able to work in wet and dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
⦁    Work in an environment that may include mechanical parts, airborne particles and moderate to loud noises requiring the consistent use of proper PPE
⦁    Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
⦁    Work overtime and various shift times as required
⦁    Weekend work as required to meet customer demands
⦁    Ability to operate heavy equipment as necessary
⦁    Have eye, hand, and finger coordination 
⦁    Ability to fully use hands, arms, and fingers
