Purpose of the role

 

Colas Ltd have an exciting opportunity for a Business Administrator to join the team based at our Portsmouth depot, P06 1TA. You will provide general administrative assistance to the operations team, manage public and client enquiries via the Confirm system, take minutes for the department and client meetings as required.

Main Responsibilities

 

As a Business Administrator, you will be responsible for collating and producing timely weekly and monthly reports, submitting road closure notices, and maintaining a detailed log of correspondence and associated actions. Additionally, you will assist with street lighting administration, including providing holiday cover, and support a wide range of activities such as street cleansing audits, winter maintenance, vegetation management, and training coordination. You will also handle postal duties and ensure smooth communication across departments. Other duties outlined by the line manager. 

Ideal Candidate

 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths A-C. A strong working knowledge of IT systems, particularly Microsoft Office, is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively under pressure. Trustworthiness and a positive, flexible attitude towards teamwork are important, as well as a proactive approach to supporting colleagues and covering other roles when necessary.
