Purpose of the role

 

Here at Colas Ltd. We are looking for a an experienced Traffic Signals Engineer to join the team in Portsmouth, to carry out the installation, commissioning and maintenance of fixed traffic signals and all associated equipment for the business, for either Highways England or Local Authority’s whilst providing our clients with the highest levels of quality and, delivering their projects within the required timescales.
 

Main Responsibilities

 

As a Traffic Signals Engineer you will ensure that all works carried out on any site within Portsmouth are undertaken with full regard for the safety of yourself, colleagues, contractors and members of the public. Supporting all aspects of company H&S; BU H&S Day and near miss and, incident reporting and, investigations.  You will be supporting the PFI Business Manager(s) and Traffic Signals Supervisor in producing and maintaining your HEA/NHSS 8 Sector Scheme portfolio aswell as being responsible for producing all associated test and, handover documentation within the required timescales and to the highest quality. You will be able to self-audit your own work activities to prevent errors or inaccuracies occurring and complete maintenance/periodic inspections in line with agreed schedule. You will be conduction fault diagnosis on a variety of traffic signal related products. As a Traffic Signals Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out all associated installation and commissioning works to specified designs and standards. Additionally, attending traffic signal related faults in a timely manner ensuring contract response times are met. To carry out other appropriate duties as assigned by the Traffic Signals Supervisor. You will undertake out of hours (including weekend and Bank Holidays) standby cover for urgent traffic signal related faults on a 1 week in 3 rotation (Fri – Fri). 

Ideal Candidate

 

It is essential that the ideal candidate has Traffic Signal Maintenance experience and come from an electrical background having experience in identifying faults, repairing and maintaining electronic equipment. It is essential the successful candidate will hold: 

  • A valid ECS/CSCS/HEA card
  • Electrically Qualified to:
  • BS 7671 wiring regulations (17th Edition)
  • City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection & Testing

 

The candidate will have the ability to work on their own, be comfortable working at heights and working in all weather conditions and environmental conditions. A full UK driving licence is required for this role.
