Fitter/ Operator Rail Milling

Purpose of the Role

 The successful and safe delivery of programmed Rail Milling Operations and Maintenance 

Person Specification

• This role would suit candidates looking to further their career in the rail industry.  
• An engineering background is essential, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic will be 
  required.  
• All rail specific training will be provided for the successful candidate. Job use van and fuel card will 
  also be provided by Colas Rail. 
• Applicants will have to have a keen eye for detail, the ability to work alone or as part of a team and 
  a “can do” attitude when faced with solving problems. 
• Lodging away from home will be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating or maintaining the machine safely and effectively, as instructed by the Milling or
  Maintenance Supervisor.
• Reporting any machine defects to the Maintenance Supervisor, where appropriate.
• Collating the data output from the machine where applicable.
• To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures.
• Assist in maintaining quality systems, machine safety packs and stabling database by
  continually monitoring, reviewing and making recommendations for updating as required
• Undertake any other duties if assessed as competent to do so
