Human Resources Administrator

 

HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an energetic HR professional at its State College, PA, office. The primary function of the position is to provide support to the HR department in a variety of HR duties, including candidate sourcing and recruiting, employee records maintenance, JDE and Success Factors administration, training, and other general HR functional areas. The position will handle all duties and responsibilities surrounding 401K and benefits. The selected individual must be able to work with highly confidential information. 

 

The ideal candidate will have general knowledge of human resources competencies and functional areas, and have the ability to work autonomously and efficiently.  To be successful in the role, top candidates will become familiar using HR software and tools, and comfortable interacting with employees at all levels. This HR professional position will have the opportunity to work on stretch assignments and projects in order to develop his/her HR skill set.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provide assistance to employees and supervisors and answer general questions regarding HR programs and policies
  • Liaison with other departments or functions (payroll, benefits etc.)
  • Maintain records of personnel-related data via established Success Factors and electronic filing systems to ensure all employment record keeping requirements are met
  • Support the recruitment/hiring process, including college recruiting
  • Facilitate employee onboarding functions
  • Produce, submit, and interpret reports on general HR activity
  • Manage the day-to-day administration of leaves of absence, including, but not limited to, leaves under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), personal leaves of absence, and short- and long-term disability, including maintaining an appropriate level of communication with third party leave administrator, as well as the employee on leave.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all leave of absence benefits to effectively serve as a liaison between employees, leaders, and HR staff.
  • Prepare, maintain, or approve employment records related to events or changes, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, seasonal layoffs, or promotions, using HRIS, ensuring all employment actions are in compliance with local, state and federal employment requirements.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

 

 

Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices; ability to handle confidential information
  • Proven Office experience (Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Experience with HR databases, HRIS, and applicant tracking system software, including data input, report writing, and administration preferred (we use JD Edwards and SAP products)
  • Knowledge of sourcing tools, including resume databases, online communities, and social media
  • Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; willing to present information in front of a group
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data
  • Time management and organizational skills – able to complete work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team to collaborate on projects
