We are currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team at the Terus head office located in Surrey, British Columbia.  The incumbent will be reporting to the Assistant Operations Controller and working directly with Accounting and Operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting
    • Assist Project Coordinators or Project Managers with preparing final billings and progress claims
    • Super users of JWS, Command Alkon, Heavy Job and Heavy Bid
    • Account and inventory reconciliations and direct cost entries when required
    • Assist with month-end and year-end working paper files
    • Ensure bids and estimates loaded into JDE correctly and liaise with Project Manager and Project Co-ordinators where things are missing or discrepancies exist
    • Ensure Business Units, cost codes and object accounts setup when needed
    • Union remittance dues (Teamsters)


  • Analysis & Reporting
    • Preparation and distribution of Monthly reporting for local companies and plants
    • Liaise with the Operations to ensure business activities reflect latest projections
    • Help with ad hoc reporting requests
    • Monthly analysis for manufacturing, construction and equipment
    • Creation and distribution of new reports through Reports Now, Excel, and Queries as requested
    • Updating of new process documentation including flowcharts and providing training where necessary


  • Provide backup to Assistant Controller when required
  • Other tasks as assigned by the VP Finance and the Operations Controller



  • A designated CPA with a proven track record in a related analytical position within an organization. 
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills which will work well with the Operations Team ensuring costing is accurate, timely, and reliable. 
  • This position will appeal to a bright, motivated individual who thrives in a demanding and fast paced work environment. 
  • This person must be highly organized and skilled at multitasking. 
  • This person will have developed skills and knowledge of sophisticated computer applications including advanced Excel skills, VBA and Query based reporting.
  • At least 5 years Industry experience and an understanding of JDE, Heavy Job, Heavy Bid and IFRS accounting and finance is preferred.
