We are currently looking for a Payroll Clerk to join our Finance team at the Terus head office located in Surrey, British Columbia.  The incumbent will be reporting to the Payroll Administrator and working directly with head office and the operations team.


Key Responsibilities


  • Collection of all automated and manual timecards for all hourly employees including the division and local offices.  Follow up on any missing timecards or information.
  • Review and correction of all errors within the Heavy Job files
  • Exporting of all Heavy Job files into JDE
  • Log batches into payroll tracking sheet to ensure payroll is captured for all hourly employees
  • Assist with preliminary review of all employee’s time, including RT, OT, DT, LOA’s, shift differentials, stat holidays, etc.
  • Liaise with operations on timecard issues
  • Ensure manual adjustments are reviewed and entered into JDE
  • Reconciliation of payroll accounts, including hours, rates, WCB, etc.
  • Assist with annual, month-end and ad hoc reporting
  • Assist with payroll & union remittances and compliance reporting
  • Assist with new hires and records of employment
  • Will co-ordinate and perform all changes to Heavy Job master record tables including:
    • Adding and removing employees and setting pay classes/rates
    • Adding and removing equipment and setting internal rates
    • Assist with HCSS user account administration for all companies
  • Provide backup to the Payroll Administrator for vacation relief
  • Projects as assigned by the Payroll Administrator and Corporate Operations Controller



  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Experience with JDE accounting software an asset.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role in construction or manufacturing industry.
  • Able to work well in a collaborative, team-based environment.
