Position Overview

The Sales Representative is responsible for all sales activity related to hot mix asphalt (HMA) and construction aggregates with assigned accounts in the Watertown Market. This position will promote Barrett Paving Materials Inc. and its products and services in the commercial and municipal markets.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop strong customer relationships through in-person and phone contact, construction site visits and other traditional sales activities
  • Provide material quotes to customers and track within quoting and ordering software
  • Document customer and job related communication through detailed project notes, bidding activity reports and weekly journals
  • Forecast sales to assist in production planning
  • Assist credit department with collection of monies due from assigned accounts
  • Actively participate in asphalt and construction related professional associations
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 3-5 years sales or heavy highway construction experience
  • 4 Year College degree

 

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Familiarity with HMA and asphalt paving process
  • Ability to work with customers and employees at various levels
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (specifically Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of quoting/ordering and Customer Resource Management software a plus

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Frequent car travel
  • Moderate amount of time spent in office environment
  • Regular visits to customer locations, asphalt plants and outdoor construction sites which may result in exposure to extreme weather conditions and loud noises

 

Supervision:

  • Will report directly to the Sales Manager or Regional Manager
  • Will work with Plants Manager, Estimator, Superintendants in regards to scheduling
