Asphalt Plants Manager

 

HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an dynamic Asphalt Plants Manager at its Williamsport Location. We are looking for a highly skilled individual that has the competencies and experience to operate multi-unit facilities. Locations would include Milton, Williamsport, and the Bloomsburg area. The plants are located just miles outside of the Williamsport area. The city is the cultural, financial, and commercial center of Central Pennsylvania and bordered by the The West Branch Susquehanna River. Williamsport is the birthplace of Little League Baseball. South Williamsport, a town nearby, is the headquarters of Little League Baseball and annually hosts the Little League World Series in late summer.

 

The asphalt plants operate to support our East Region, where we are a leader in highway construction. With a large assortment of paving equipment, experienced crews, the plants are strategically located within the region, HRI can pave any project.  Since we control quality throughout the production process, HRI can meet any specification in the industry.  

 

The Plant Manager is tasked with directing and managing all plant operations with overall responsibilities for safety, production, maintenance, quality and other production-related activities. This position ensures compliance with all standards, policies, and regulations for safe, environmentally sound production of a quality product. The Asphalt Plants Manager will be responsible for manufacturing various asphalt products according to mix design and customer job site specifications. The position will oversee pre and post-shift inspections and all repairs on the plant.

 

Responsibilities are not limited to:

  • Manage and direct all operations of three asphalt plants
  • Demonstrate safety value
  • Demonstrate ethical values
  • Handle customer, vendor and employee relationships
  • Assess plant conditions
  • Budget maintenance and capital projects
  • Manage large projects
  • Establish budget and schedule
  • Execute and manage all budgets and expenses
  • Identify and implement best practices that are operational, scheduling, maintenance and training related
  • Foster employee development within direct reports. Establish training program to enhance labor skills and knowledge
  • Demonstrate problem solving through engineering mindset
  • Mechanical and electrical understanding or background, not necessarily asphalt plant related
  • Open to new technologies
  • Recognize value of new tools and technologies and they can help plant operations
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
  • Work cross-functionally with safety, environmental, sales, QC, HR and other inter-company support departments to accomplish important business objectives
  • Managing of all plant inventory

 

Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
  • Must have a solid working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an extensive understanding of operations and safety requirements for the equipment
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data
  • Time management and organizational skills – able to complete work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team to collaborate on projects
  • Strong math skills
