Mission

The Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating Quality, Health, Safety and Environment activities within the company, working closely with the Head of QHSE Europe and the Business Unit Managers.

With weekly presence on construction sites, he/she supports and guides assembly teams, site supervisors and project managers in the effective implementation of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.

Acting with proximity with operational management, the QHSE Manager ensures alignment, consistency and the effective application of QHSE standards across operations and projects, while promoting a proactive safety and quality culture.

Main tasks

QHSE & CSR

  • Provide technical and professional support in all matters related to Quality, Health, Safety, Environment (QHSE) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
  • Work closely with Management, Business Units, Product Development, Procurement, Human Resources, Project Managers and Site Managers to propose and implement company policies.
  • Act as the central point of reference within the company for health & safety communication, training, and risk analysis related to business activities.
  • Ensure that all activities are aligned with Colas group and Kummler+Matter values, processes, directives, and guidelines.
  • Manage and development an efficient QHSE department

Safety Management & Risk Prevention

  • Implement Colas group and Kummler+Matter Health, Safety and Sustainability programs in close collaboration with all departments.
  • Support operational teams in implementing best safety practices and learnings within their respective areas.
  • Declare and analyze accidents, incidents, significant close-calls and near misses together with the operational teams.
  • Ensure that lessons learned from incident analysis are translated into action plans that are implemented, communicated, understood and embedded across teams, including site personnel.
  • Provide efficient operational support including frequent site visits
  • Accountable of the process related to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensuring optimization and cost/quality efficiency.
  • Provide technical safety advice and guidance to operational teams and management when required.
  • Develop Health and Safety Plans (HSP) and Quality Assurance Plans (QAP) in collaboration with project managers and site managers.

Quality, Process and audits management 

  • Manage the internal Integrated Management System, including the optimization and revision of health & safety policies, procedures and standards.
  • Ensure recording, follow-up, analysis and feedback of non-quality issues to support business performance and profitability.
  • Lead internal and external audits, surveillance programs and continuous improvement plans.
  • Ensure regulatory and internal compliance across all business activities.
  • Produce regular KPI reports, analysis and improvement action plans for management.
  • Develop the digitalization of the quality control system.

Training, Communication & Support

  • Define and implement health and safety communication, legal safety training programs to support safety objectives.
  • Provide training, coaching and operational support to ensure effective follow-up of QHSE topics and promote a fair and positive safety culture.

Experience/skills

  • An engineering degree or Master degree level with an EHS specialty
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in QHSE system
  • An experience in an industrial / construction environment
  • Enjoys working with people and supporting teams in their daily activities
  • As comfortable with management system as with hands-on action
  • An appetite for the operations and production sites
  • Proficient in German mandatory and speaking either French or English.
