The Edmonton Valley Line West LRT project is a 14-km long line extension of the Valley Line, extending from downtown Edmonton,to the City's west end.  We are adding an HR Generalist to the rapidly growing team of professionals required to ensure this project is a success. 

Your Mission

The role requires a deep understanding of the recruitment process and some experience in other HR departments. You will have to be self-driven and goal-oriented, with solid time management skills to push projects forward and excellent problem-solving skills to figure things out in a fast-moving startup environment. You will also need to be a great team player and communicator to collaborate with people from all different cultures around the world. And you are ok with being flexible with meetings since you need to work with colleagues in different time zones. You will report to the HR Manager. This is a 12 month contract with opportunity for permanent.  

Main Responsibilities

•    Create a recruitment plan and calendar according to company strategy. Recruit and hire quickly to meet our growth plans
•    Support the advancement of a consistent onboarding process and experience (HR policies, internal procedures, culture, expectations)
•    Develop a system to help people quickly understand the culture and the ways of working
•    Support project managers with the development and succession plans for their teams
•    Oversee employee confirmation, performance reviews and develop a performance management system.
•    Design and create policies that supports the company culture
•    Work collaboratively with the HR Admin and Project Admin to foster a positive work environment and employee experience

Skills and Requirements

  • Recruitment experience
  • Experience with interviewing, hiring and onboarding processes
  • Experience working with HR systems and softwares; SuccessFactors preferred
  • Good understanding of general HR processes
  • Strong project management experience with great attention to detail
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-cultural teams
  • Self-driven, and goal-oriented individual with ability to work independently in a remote and fast paced startup environment
  • Collaboration with Project Managers, monitoring attendance, vacation, performance and development

Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Business or Human Resources, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of relevant, progressive HR experience including employee programs and relations; compensation and total rewards, and use of HR Best Practices, preferably in a civil / roadway construction company
  • Must be computer literate with demonstrated proficiency in MS Office; applications; and related systems
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to promote constructive relationships with communication and collaboration at all levels
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills – ability to work independently
  • Ability to initiate and implement necessary plans and programs
  • Demonstrated initiative, judgment and maturity, deals with confidential information with the utmost discretion, respect, and care
