What Does a Financial Analyst Do?

Reporting to the Group Controller, the Financial Analyst is responsible for tracking financial performance, analyzing business performance and market conditions to create forecasts, and assisting the senior management team to make tactical and strategic decisions by providing periodic reports. As a Financial Analyst, You Will:

  • Analyze and conduct research in financial and expense performance, rate of return, depreciation, working capital and investment etc.
  • Prepare forecasts and analyze trends in sales, finance, general business conditions and other related areas
  • Prepare detail of work plan and schedule, complete detailed analysis, and research, identify options, and prepare reports for management and recommendations for action or change
  • Participate in the formulation of budgets for the department
  • Review actual expenses versus budget
  • Issue monthly variance statements and prepare supporting documents to be reviewed by executive management
  • Conduct special financial and business-related studies as requested
  • Provide management with a clear understanding of the key drivers underlying prospective financial performance. Provide written explanatory interpretations for future courses of action
  • Develop and disseminate reference materials necessary for budget holders to understand the budgeting process; assist budget holders as needed
  • Consult with responsible personnel as necessary to determine causes of variances, recommend corrective action and prepare variance explanations for management
  • Troubleshoot and analyze complex financial issues and provide recommendations for policies, controls or action

What You'll Bring

  • Degree in accounting, finance or business and 3+ years’ relevant experience FP&A, creating and analyzing financial reports in a large organization
  • Experience working with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Self-directed and highly motivated, with the decisiveness and flexibility necessary to operate successfully in a rapidly changing environment
  • Dedicated communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access etc.
  • Evaluate financial risk, prepare financial forecasts, financing scenarios and other documents concerning capital management
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • A passion for constant improvement and innovation - always looking to do things better
  • Develop, implement, and use tools for managing and analyzing financial portfolio
  • Prepare a regular risk profile for debt portfolios
  • Assist in preparing operating and investment budgets
