The Construction Division offers services to the road construction/road maintenance industry that include: installation of roadside barriers (guardrail and high tension cable barrier), permanent and temporary highway sign installation, bridge deck waterproofing, crack sealing (hot pour/rout and seal and cold pour), spray patching, installation of roadside delineation devices, and temporary traffic control services. 

 

Job Summary

ACP’s Construction Division holds a strong focus as a subcontractor on tendered and negotiated work across Western Canada. We provide essential services to the road construction/maintenance industry. Our areas of specialization include: installation of roadside barriers including high tension cable barrier and guardrail, highway guide sign installation, bridge deck waterproofing and roadside delineation devices. We also provide highway surface and right of way maintenance such as spray patching, crack sealing, route and seal, and culvert repairs. Whether applied to road surfaces or bridge decks, bike trails or pedestrian crossings, our products and applications offer the optimal solution for all road maintenance and pavement preservation issue.

 

ACP is now looking for motivated Foreman/Supervisor candidates to join our team for the upcoming season - beginning April 2022

Reporting to the Shop Foreman, the Construction Foreman is responsible for all matters pertaining to the specific project they are assigned. A successful candidate will be a physically fit, hardworking individual who possesses strong awareness of road construction/road maintenance applications and techniques. Candidates must exhibit strong leadership and effective decision making as they liaise with crew members and various project stakeholders on a daily basis. All candidates must be able to assist in other crew duties. All members of the crew are expected to undertake multiple tasks as required by the specific scope of work on a per project basis.

Main Responsibilities

  • Communicate job specifics to a crew of 2-15 people including drivers, operators, labourers, and flagpersons.
  • Assign tasks to crew members on a daily basis and follow up to ensure quality and workmanship standards are met.
  • Ensure crew compliance with project requirements.
  • Know and understand the requirements of OHSA regulation.
  • Complete or facilitate mandatory safety tool box meetings and/or field level hazard assessments. 
  • Enforce vehicle pre-trips or completed as required and log books are properly used when necessary.
  • Coordinate with the safety department on issues such as injuries, equipment incidents or near misses, and complete WCB reports as needed.
  • Document and communicate any changes to project scope made by the owner, consultant or general contractor via email.
  • Other duties as determined by the Shop Foreman.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and current drivers abstract.                                                                                          
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the road construction industry.
  • Proficiency in basic equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of local general construction specifications and best practices.
  • Knowledge of basic business communication etiquette.

Working Conditions

  • Travel as required.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Use of personal protection equipment is required.
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements.
  • Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Driving long distances unaccompanied.
