All Colas USA companies volunteer their time to support organizations and causes in and around their communities. Everyone benefits and workplace relationships grow stronger as a result. Stories of giving back are published in our internal bi-annual Crossroads magazine; it is printed and mailed to every Colas USA employee. Here are just a few of the organizations Colas companies have donated time, funds, and resources to:
- American Red Cross
- Toys for Tots
- Boy Scouts of America
- Working Wardrobes
- Hiring Our Heroes
- YMCA “Backpack Weekend Food Program”
- The Humane Society
- YMCA “Bright Beginnings”
CAREER PATH
While we may know where we want to go in our careers, the steps we should take to get there aren’t always clear so… Colas USA has developed a number of typical “Career Paths” to show a series of promotions and/or lateral moves you could work towards.
These aren’t intended to show every possible path for every job but rather we hope they serve as a conversation starter for when you are discussing your career with your manager.
TRAINING & LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
To achieve excellence, it is not enough to simply do a job well. Constant learning is required in all areas of our industry as well as human relations. Colas University was established to provide all employees at all Colas USA companies voluntary education as well as mandatory in-house training.
Every Colas USA employee should possess a basic knowledge of road materials. Therefore, “Basics on Roads” webinars have been developed to teach employees exactly that: the basics! They cover design and production of road materials, as well as how pavements are built and maintained. Some subjects include pavement engineering, aggregates, binders, material engineering, rehabilitation, maintenance – plus, much more.
