At Colas USA, “We Open The Way" to an exciting and long-lasting career. Dedicated team members across all Colas USA companies hold themselves accountable for providing the guidance and training fellow employees need to be successful. We offer comprehensive benefits packages giving employees peace of mind as they focus on themselves, their families, and their careers.

It’s the 21st century. People move around a lot. Whatever the reason one chooses to move, or has to move, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to leave Colas USA’s family of companies. We have many ways for you to stay even if you’ve moved:

  • Intercompany transfers: Colas USA companies are based in Alaska, California, Colorado, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, Wyoming – and even Canada. The possibilities to move within the group are nearly endless.
  • National locations and international opportunities: Want to satisfy your wanderlust and work in another country? It’s possible! Colas USA is a French-owned company with locations all over the world.
  • Transfer to tech: Business employees have the opportunity to transfer into Technology Information Solutions Services (ISS) as well as Colas Solutions™, our in-house research and development team.
  • Rotational recruiting:  This exciting program gives internal employees the opportunity to spend three months immersed in a variety of roles around the United States.

The level of commitment and loyalty expressed by Colas employees is extraordinary! 12% of the 4,310 employees working for Colas USA has been with us for twenty-five years or more. Combined, those 1,078 employees have 27,000 years of experience with our company! Currently, two active Colas USA employees have been employed for fifty years - truly incredible and inspiring.

All Colas USA companies volunteer their time to support organizations and causes in and around their communities. Everyone benefits and workplace relationships grow stronger as a result. Stories of giving back are published in our internal bi-annual Crossroads magazine; it is printed and mailed to every Colas USA employee. Here are just a few of the organizations Colas companies have donated time, funds, and resources to:

  • American Red Cross
  • Toys for Tots
  • Boy Scouts of America
  • Working Wardrobes
  • Hiring Our Heroes
  • YMCA “Backpack Weekend Food Program”
  • The Humane Society
  • YMCA “Bright Beginnings”

While we may know where we want to go in our careers, the steps we should take to get there aren’t always clear so… Colas USA has developed a number of typical “Career Paths” to show a series of promotions and/or lateral moves you could work towards.

These aren’t intended to show every possible path for every job but rather we hope they serve as a conversation starter for when you are discussing your career with your manager.

To achieve excellence, it is not enough to simply do a job well. Constant learning is required in all areas of our industry as well as human relations. Colas University was established to provide all employees at all Colas USA companies voluntary education as well as mandatory in-house training.

Every Colas USA employee should possess a basic knowledge of road materials. Therefore, “Basics on Roads” webinars have been developed to teach employees exactly that: the basics! They cover design and production of road materials, as well as how pavements are built and maintained. Some subjects include pavement engineering, aggregates, binders, material engineering, rehabilitation, maintenance – plus, much more.
