Description

Sloan Construction is seeking a Regional Controller for the Granite Division, based in Cornelius, NC, which contains both construction and manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Region Manager, this person will be responsible for all financial reporting of the region, enforcing proper internal controls, and providing any necessary analysis to aid in decision making. The Region Controller interacts with all employees of the region, the administrative team, the corporate team, the leadership team, and external customers and suppliers. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable, accurate and efficient with strong time management and analytical skills. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting and administration for the region
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Prepare budgets and financial forecasts 
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Provide analysis to other members of management vital to the decision-making process
  • Develop and monitor business performance metrics
  • Evaluate and enforce internal controls
  • Hire, train and retain skilled administrative staff for the region

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a Financial Controller in a related industry (Construction under percent complete revenue recognition, and Manufacturing)
  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting experience
  • Advanced degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Effective written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills:
  • Proficiency with entire MS Office suite of applications
  • JDE Enterprise 1 experience preferred
  • Hyland OnBase document software experience preferred
