Job Description

Colas ISS, the IT/IS arm of Colas North America plays a critical role in providing advanced solutions and superior support for our business users. As a member of the Project Solutions Group you would be working on providing new and enhancing existing solutions.
 

As a functional business analyst, you would leverage your experience in the construction materials industry to advance digital transformation initiatives involving our quarries, asphalt plants, liquid terminals, and ready-mix plants. You would be working closely with staff from operating subsidiaries and staff from within Colas ISS (developers, QA Analysts, project managers, sysadmins, etc.) to design and build a quality solution for our users.
 

Main Responsibilities

  • Work with users to gather requirements, design a solution and develop business specifications.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the Construction Materials domain within Colas ISS
  • Perform functional testing on new enhancements, modifications, and bug fixes 
  • Train business users on new or existing solutions
  • Assist the Manufacturing Systems Manager in evaluating incoming requests
  • Complete all necessary requirements of our project management methodology and internal processes

  • The applicant will have a strong sense of business acumen and professionalism.  This person must be well-organized, and a self-starter; they must be a team player with the ability to work independently as well.
  • Must have problem solving skills with ability to analyze and recommend solutions on problems.
  • Ability to present complex concepts clearly in easily understood terms.
  • Able to interact with all levels of management and staff subject matter experts.
  • Ability to multi-task and work to deadlines.
  • Must be a self-starter, dependable, innovative, and possess good judgment.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and have the ability to work with limited supervision in a fast-paced, small-team environment.
  • Should possess date-driven work ethic.
  • Must be a quick learner.
  • Ability to travel across North America 25% of the time

Education & Experience

Required:

  • 5 years of experience in the Construction Materials industry required.
  • 5 years of experience in a Business Analyst role required.
  • Experience working with users to gather requirements and delivering applications through a change process involving phases for building, testing, UAT, and deployment.
  • 5 years of experience with Scale Ticketing, Dispatch and Quoting software used in the Aggregates, Asphalt, Liquid or Ready-mix industries required. 
  • Bachelor's degree in business, or IT field
  • Experience with MS Office suite required

Desirable:

  • Experience as a team lead – Mentoring and providing guidance for the team, and backing up the Manufacturing Systems Manager as required
  • Experience with COMMANDalkon solutions including JWS Apex, COMMANDseries, and MOBILEsales
  • Experience with JD Edwards ERP solution
  • Experience with IT software technical skills (software implementation, software support)
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and JIRA/Aha software
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Strong report writing skills (Crystal Reports and/or PowerBI)
  • French speaking
