 Essential Functions
Business Development:
• Solicit/ secure business opportunities from existing customers through personal visits, telephone and/or written communications
• Identifies and researches prospective customers through networking, on-line research of industry trends/counterparts and industry information sources including, industry publications, industry associations, trade shows, federal, state and local RFP.s, RFQ’s to locate and respond to potential business and market expansion opportunities.
• Screens potential business opportunities/prospects by analyzing market strategies, scope of work, evaluating options, ability to deliver the product and/or service, examining risks and evaluating customer needs and goals to meet or exceed sales objectives.
• Closes new business by coordinating contract requirements, developing and negotiating contract terms, and successfully integrating contract requirements with company business operations.
• Maintains customer quotations, order entry, sales reports, backlogs, collection of accounts receivables and overall customer experience.
• Coordinates with company construction, production and material distribution operations to ensure product/service availability according to customer contract requirements.
• Provides customers an understanding of the selection and use of processes, materials, equipment and logistics required by the contract.
• Establishes the company as the vendor of choice by providing exceptional service that sets the company apart from the competition.
• Establish pricing for products/services that balances optimal profitability with long-term territory and company needs.
• Develops sales operating plan to increase core growth with key accounts and key/new customers.
• Works closely with Engineering, Estimator/Project Manager and Construction Supervision to ensure contract requirements, schedules are maintained according to the contract..
• Responsible for reporting sales results (top-and-bottom-line) to different levels of management.


Safety Compliance:
• Proactively conducts initial bid/project safety and hazard assessments to prevent contract safety incidents.
• Ensures company safety policies in accordance with SOP, and all OHSA and any state level agencies regulations are enforced on all contracts.

 

Education and Minimum Experience:  

• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job satisfactorily
• BS degree in sales/marketing, related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2-4 years’ progressive experience of specialty construction material/service sales, installation of construction materials
• General knowledge and understanding of various safety and codes and compliance including OHSA regulations and corresponding state and local codes and statues.
• Experience with local and state prevailing wage rate guidelines as it relates to bids and proposals..
• Knowledge of negotiated, lump sum, and hard bid experience using Heavy bid software preferred.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within the defined sales territory.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Sales experience with construction materials/services and their application/use and specifications preferably in highway/infrastructure construction.
• Experience with city, county, state, federal commercial bidding/award procedures

• Ability to work well independently and also as participate as a functioning contributing member of bid and project teams as assigned.
• Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes.
• The ability to respond quickly and effectively to ever-changing situations. Must possess the ability to coach, mentor and contribute to project activities.
•  Exhibit strong business acumen, skills and maturity and the ability to work effectively with others.
• Highly developed organizational and planning skills, time management skills and written/oral and presentation communications skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Able to work on multiple tasks and estimate multiple projects.
• Knowledge of applicable union jurisdiction and labor agreements related to projects  covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
