Summary

Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize projects, develop and maintain work schedule, plan, coordinate, delegate and monitor projects. Ensure an adequate stock of tools and materials are available for completion of assigned workload.
• Provide technical training, guidance, leadership and coaching for affected employees. Serve as subject matter expert.
• Develop, implement and oversee electrical preventive maintenance program.
• Install and connect power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed and existing machines and equipment such as plants, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning devices such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures.
• Test malfunctioning electrical circuits and equipment using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
• Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, and position-sensing devices.
• Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
• Replace electric motor bearings and rewire motors.
• Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.

Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience: 

• Associate's degree or equivalent in electrical trade from two-year College or technical school or at least two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• Personal protective equipment (PPE) required
• Regularly required to lift and /or move between 25 and 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Occasionally required lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with or without assistance
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) 
• Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
• Employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration
