As Human Resources Manager, Michelle says with a smile that her job is “never boring”. After joining Standard General Inc. Edmonton in 2011 as HR coordinator, she climbed the corporate ladder, while attending night school to get a higher degree. Today, she enjoys addressing the daily challenges of the company. “I spend most of my time supporting employees and managers. I know many of them quite well”. To do so, she and her team help facilitate performance reviews with employees, which allows her to get to know them even better. “Knowing them makes it easier to fix issues, to help identify high potentials and to assist people who want opportunities for growth”. Enjoying the perks of working in a very local company, she also thinks it’s a great opportunity to be part of a bigger team, across Canada, and across the world. Accompanying the company through the changes in human resources and in the business segment, she has an important advisory role, and is very involved in strategic planning. Michelle believes in the benefits of strong team building, and she truly loves the fact that she can play a role in fostering corporate culture.
