Job Summary

IA Construction has an opening for an Asphalt Plant Superintendent to oversee the daily operations of our Lafayette HMA plant.  
 

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily operations of HMA plant
  • Responsible for supervision of plant employees
  • Order all materials needed for production
  • Inventory control of all materials
  • Plant maintenance including ordering parts and making necessary repairs in a timely and safe manner
  • Approve invoices in OnBase
  • Responsible for safety at the facility
  • Participate in daily safety huddles
  • Train new hires
  • Report inventories daily
  • Report employee time daily
  • Communicate with paving foreman, plant manager, quality control manager, and office as necessary
  • Maintain good housekeeping at the facility
  • Report energy usage daily
  • Cross train employees
  • Work Closely with QC to ensure quality products
  • Some clerical duties as required

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Skills

  • Computer, fax, printer, and copier experience
  • Ability to communicate with employees, peers, and management
  • Ability to lead and direct 
  • Safety oriented
  • Mechanical and Maintenance skills
  • Asphalt plant experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit for periods of time
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to work various shifts
  • Ability to climb steps
  • Ability to lift / carry objects
