Job Description: 

Job Summary

QAP is seeking a Project Engineer 1 who will assist in the management of project(s) by means of cost management and analysis, scheduling, billings and project support. This individual should have the following characteristics: strong analytical skills, social skills, and interpersonal skills with a dedication to safety, integrity, and ethics. The role is likely to work in remote areas of Alaska during the busy season (April to October). 

Main Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Ensure a safe project site and work environment in accordance with Colaska policy, participate with Goal Zero principles.
  • Assist Site Superintendent(s) and Project Manager(s) with project operations, schedules, and cost management.
  • Be knowledgeable and experienced regarding the requirements of the MUTCD, Alaska Traffic Manuel, Alaska DOT Standards and Specification Section 643 and the implementation of those requirements.
  • Assist Project Manager with daily project duties such as material billing preparations, expedite material procurement, approval, and facilitate product transportation.
  • Assist with the development of project(s) long-term and short-term schedule.
  • Attend pre-job and weekly meetings with agencies/owners.
  • Establish and maintain both cost report and billing quantities.
  • Connect with Project Manager(s) and Site Superintendent(s) on a regular basis to ensure project issues and concerns are addressed.
  • Handle positions that may report to the Project Engineer (Project Clerk, Project Engineer Intern)
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends if required.
  • Other duties as the need arises for the project.

Requirements

  • Must be safety oriented.
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and 3-6 years of engineering experience
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Should have a spirit of adventure and have a positive demeanor
  • Must have supervisory skills, management experience, and good public relations conduct

Skills

  • Self-Starter and has outstanding multi-tasking skills
  • Computer software knowledge of: Primavera P6, MS Office, JDE, HCSS
  • Preferred abilities in Trimble Business Center, and Road Design
  • Ability to build daily job-cost reporting and handle subcontractor scope of work
  • Be Certified as a Traffic Control Supervisor by either:
    • a. American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA)
    • b. Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control Technician, or Work Zone Safety Specialist----International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA)
