What You'll Do
Safety First:
- Champion our Goal Zero and CI team initiatives—lead by example!
- Conduct daily safety talks and submit incident reports to ensure a safe work environment.
- Organize site orientations and enforce safety regulations.
People Management:
- Lead the hiring, promotions, and professional development of our skilled field personnel, identifying and nurturing potential leaders within the team.
- Foster a positive team culture by mentoring and motivating team members, encouraging personal growth, and creating a sense of ownership through regular feedback sessions.
- Track crew vacations and optimize scheduling to align team strengths with project needs, ensuring productivity while maintaining work-life balance.
- Delegate responsibilities and encourage initiative, instilling confidence and accountability in crew members for greater job satisfaction.
Operational Excellence:
- Order materials and maintain adequate stockpiles to meet customer demands.
- Arrange equipment moves as directed by the Superintendent.
- Perform maintenance and general labour to support the crew.
- Ensure proper maintenance, care, and cleaning of company vehicles and equipment; schedule repairs with SG shop or external facilities.
- Communicate effectively with train crew members and other parties to facilitate safe movement and operation of trains.
What We're Looking For
Key Competencies:
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient communicator with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to navigate mobile technology and tools (iPad, iPhone, apps).
Experience and Education:
- Previous industrial rail experience is a plus!
- Experience operating heavy equipment, conveyor systems and rail systems is a plus.
- High school diploma and/or relevant field experience required.
- Solid understanding of heavy equipment and aggregate handling systems.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent)
