Overview

 

As a Mix Design Laboratory Technician your responsibilities will include designing mixes for asphalt mixes, chip seal surface treatments, cold in-place recycled asphalt pavement, testing of aggregates, asphalt mixes, emulsions, and road markings. Your objective is to ensure that the products and processes meet the established quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Conduct QA/QC testing on liquid asphalt samples
  • Run the tests according to the standards methods used in the industry
  • Read and follow standardized methods
  • Collect samples
  • Check the calibration of laboratory instruments
  • Maintain equipment and facilities
  • Analyze the results of the samples
  • Ensure compliance with regulations on safety and the environment  
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

 

  • Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technologist student or graduate OR a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field;

  • Must possess effective communication skills of English (written and verbal), personal initiative, and a high regard for safety;

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills;

  • Must have the ability to evaluate and adapt new and emerging technologies

  • Valid driver’s license along with a recent abstract;

  • Must have own transportation (no public transit available in Acheson)

  • Candidates must possess a strong work ethic
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Reliability and punctuality is required
  • Ability to follow directions and respect processes
  • Necessary to stay alert for long periods of time

  • Use of personal protection equipment is required
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirement
