Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician will perform QA/QC duties at our Lippert aggregate plant by testing aggregate samples. This is a union position.
Rate: 20.08 to 22.86 per union contract.
Main Responsibilities
- Promote safe work practices and an excellent safety culture
- Responsible for safe and efficient operation of all equipment and tools
- Participates in pre-shift safety huddles
- Responsible for reporting incidents and accidents to supervisor or management
- Maintain an open line of communication with team members to promote team productivity
- Responsible to report to management and safety officer if any potential safety hazards
- Required to take MSHA training upon hire and annually as well as to adhere to all MSHA regulations and guidelines
- Testing of aggregate materials, sampling, absorption, LA Abrasion, specifications, un-compacted voids, sodium / magnesium loss, and crush counts
Education

High School Diploma or GED
Skills
- Basic math skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with peers, management, and customers.
- Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes
- Adaptable to changing conditions
- Computer, iPad, fax, fax, printer, and copier experience
- Safety conscience and safety oriented
- Some Mechanical and maintenance skills
- Able to learn and use several types of software programs
- Able to comprehend ASTM and AASHTO standards and procedures
Physical Requirements
- Will walk, stand and sit for periods of time
- Work is performed in various weather conditions
- May be required to climb steps or work at some heights
- Able to lift / carry items
