- Study project proposal specifications, job site, and drawings to determine scope of work
- Take-off and calculate quantities
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports into unit and man-hour figure
- Determine method of construction to be used, and accurately estimate required labor, equipment and materials to construct project
- Set-up bid in Heavy Bid 
- Attend pre-bid meeting, agency clarification and/or requirements
- Set-up job budgets, information sheet, subcontracts and purchase orders
- Prepare bid proposal for submittal
- Track awarded contracts as required including customer service, negotiations, change orders, and progress/final billings


- Engineering or Construction Technology Degree or equivalent combination technical training and/or related experience
- 5 years estimating, controls and/or engineering related experience
- Above average math skills 
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to comprehend project plans and specifications
- Knowledge of construction labor and equipment practices and production 
- Analyze project plans and specifications and produce a complete estimate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer skills (Heavy Bid, Heavy Job, Excel, Word, JD Edwards or equal)
