Terminal Operative

Purpose of the Role
Colas Continental Bitumen UK are recruiting a Terminal Operative in their depot at Avonmouth docks. You will undertake all aspects of operating pumps at our Bitumen facility, ensuring full compliance with all quality procedures and safe working practices. In addition to your basic salary, you will be compensated with a 33% shift allowance to work a 45 hour rotating shift, between the hours of 4.00am and 7.00pm with some weekend working. Full training will be given in the role.
Main Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities as Terminal Operative will be to assist the Depot Manager to operate the site in order to ensure the safe and efficient storage and supply of bitumen from the Avonmouth Depot to Continental Bitumen’s customers and be an ambassador for Safety. You will support the operation by attaching hoses to load bitumen into customer road tankers and operate the computers to ensure the correct quantity is loaded into the tankers. You will also support with site maintenance ensuring full adherence to the Permit to Work scheme at all times and ensuring works are carried out in a safe manner adhering to site specific Risk Assessment & Method Statements (Full training will be given on machines and software)
You will maintain and develop good relations with all site personnel including drivers on site to collect bitumen, attend inductions / tool box talks / all appropriate briefings, ensure adherence to all company procedures at all times, have a flexible approach to working patterns and expectations to carry out other duties as deemed necessary to the business, ensure effective time management between duties, completion of required paperwork in line with company requirements and attend training courses as and when relevant to ensure continued development.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be computer literate, have an appreciation for workplace Health & Safety, a good work ethic, good written and oral skills and able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability. The role is 15 minutes walk from Avonmouth train station but you would need to ensure any public transport is available for the shift times.
