Responsibilities:
- Operate asphalt screed to apply asphalt per plan and quality specifications as instructed by the crew Foreman on highway, municipal and private contracts, to ensure daily schedules/estimates are met.
- Make normal adjustments to obtain proper depth, grade and finished cross section of asphalt material
- Operate a variety of heavy equipment in paving, crushing and plant operations in a safe and efficient manner
- Perform daily maintenance, clean and service the equipment; perform minor repairs to equipment
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment; complete maintenance records and daily equipment log
- Perform all fluid level checks, fueling, greasing, undercarriage cleaning, etc. as required
- Productively operated in a collaborative manner with all crew members
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience operating various types of asphalt pavers
- Knowledge of all paving equipment and paving process and industry requirements
- Must have a valid minimum class 5 driver's licence with driver’s abstract meeting Miller’s expectations
- Ability to operate in a fast pace and demanding environment in a safe and effective manner
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others; team player who is willing to help out in all areas
- Must have a high attention to detail and the ability to think critically
- Punctual and reliable, with the ability to work overtime and weekends if needed
- Must be able to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions
- Travel is required
