Summary Description of Position

The selected supervisor should have the capability to one day assume the role of Operations Plant Manager. The general skill level of the supervisor should exceed that of an operator, in plant related matters, such that he/she is able to give instructions to others, in those same plant related matters. This is a hands on/working position


Key Responsibility Areas

  • Safety, Health, and Environment: Be proactive in the safety of all personnel and activities in the plant area. Inspect and maintain dust control systems to ensure a healthy work environment. Be knowledgeable of waste products, their impact on the environment and their proper disposal. Complies with all environmental, health, safety & training policies, procedures, and requirements. 


  • Production Levels: Ensure that production levels are at an optimum with minimum plant downtime. Coordinate by-size production with sales market demands and long range planning. Work closely with the quality control technicians to ensure that all production meet the customers’ needs. Document and track downtime in the fixed plant as well as bringing new ideas that will increase productivity


  • Maintenance Program: Proper utilization and maintenance of all stationary and mobile equipment so that equipment cost and downtime are minimized and the equipment is available when needed.


  • Supervision: Provide an example of good leadership, keep open, an effective lines of communication with division staff and plant level personnel. Effectively manage direct reports by setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback and providing development through training and accountability.

  • The candidate will engage in the same type of work as the workers being directed or coordinated, which includes:
  • Repairs and maintains production equipment plants in accordance with operation manuals and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Proficient in the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment, such as conveyor systems, crushers, screening equipment, dust suppression, speed reducers, and production machines.
  • Must be proficient in the use of hand tools, welding machines, cutting torches, power tools and precision measuring testing instruments.
