Job Summary

Midland Asphalt a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, provides pavement preservation solutions for public infrastructure. We are currently looking for a Sales Representative who will be responsible for developing and managing customer relationships in the Western and Central Pennsylvania area. This role will require periodic visits to the company offices but can generally be performed remotely.

Main Responsibilities

  • Educate customers on proven road maintenance strategies, technologies and emerging trends.
  • Help customers optimize their roadway infrastructure investments to create a higher ROI on taxpayer dollars.
  • Recommend product solutions to customers.
  • Analyze and review roadways with or for customers.
  • Conduct site visits of active jobs with customers and coordinate product demonstrations.
  • Interview customers to better understand customer value and gain insights.
  • Bring internal subject matter experts to help solve customers’ problems.
  • Create plans to develop your territory and increase customer loyalty.
  • Suggest ideas to continuously improve our sales processes and tools.
  • Analyze your territory results and make recommendations to improve the business.
  • Communicate customer expectations to internal Estimators and Operations teams.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to improve our go-to-market strategies and tactics.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of field sales or account management experience
  • General construction knowledge
  • Current driver’s license and ability to drive on a regular basis.
  • Ability to travel 35% to 40% of the time (overnight stay may be required)
  • Ability to build high trust relationships with government officials.
  • Ability to conduct work safely around job sites with heavy equipment.
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding about the technical aspects of products in the road construction and maintenance industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well and use a consultative approach.
  • Ability to recommend improvements to standardize our sales processes.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and ask for guidance appropriately.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
