Summary:

Responsible for monitoring efficiencies, evaluating costs, and making utilization decisions for all trucks contracted to construction operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the Sully-Miller safety culture and ensure highest standards are maintained in terms of safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Actively support and lead Company initiatives related to safety, performance, and employee development
  • Work with and communicate with dispatchers to manage truck efficiency
  • Visually monitor and perform time studies for the efficiency of trucking operations
  • Utilize various software and/or websites to make accurate and timely decisions related to trucking resource allocation
  • Advise operations of potential impacts to equipment/material delivery to ensure timely and efficient work requirements and schedules are maintained
  • Create and implement best practice logistics principles, policies, and processes across the organization to improve operational and financial performance
  • Use phone, fax, email, and cell phone to communicate with supervisors and truck brokers regarding trucking operations as needed
  • Complete budget to actual cost comparison for trucking on each project
  • Inspect broker trucks and drivers to insure they are meeting all company mandated safety regulations
  • Address questions, provides solutions to problems and requests regarding trucking on projects
  • Source dump sites for project utilization
  • Reconcile and process outside vendor invoices
  • Maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and Company business groups

 

Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial trucking operations, logistics, construction, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a supervisory capacity
  • Associates degree (Bachelor preferred) in Business Administration, Supply-Chain Management, Logistics, or related field a plus
  • Ability to effectively lead and develop employees
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to changing situations, and problem-solve in a dynamic environment
  • Prior experience using project planning, dispatch, and/or logistics software
  • Proficiency in use of computers including MS Office, spreadsheet, and database programs
  • Knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier regulations, OSHA, MSHA, and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations
  • Valid drivers’ license and clean driving history

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
  • Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Frequently required to sit and use a computer for long periods
  • Occasional work in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery
  • Exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all weather conditions
