Power Supply Design Engineer

Job Title: Power Supply Engineer.

Core Functions and Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Stay updated with electrical engineering trends and best practices.
  • Report progress and technical issues to the manager.

Project Stages:

Tendering Stage:

  • Review and analyze client/consultant tender documents for deviations from standards.
  • Prepare and present tender queries on unclear or conflicting technical issues.
  • Recommend design improvements or cost reductions.
  • Prepare BOQ and preliminary designs and evaluate suppliers' documents.

Design Stage:

  • Study and adhere to tender documents and specifications.
  • Design complete electrical systems including drawings, technical documents, schedules, and schematics per client specifications and standards.
  • Conduct detailed calculations (e.g., cable sizing, voltage drop, short circuits).
  • Follow up on design approvals and address client/consultant queries.
  • Provide feedback on deviations from tender documents.
  • Participate in technical meetings and contribute to coordination drawings.
  • Coordinate with other Metro Groups and review related documents for optimal design solutions.
  • Perform value engineering studies to reduce costs without compromising client requirements.
  • Communicate project information to the line manager and alert them of risks.

Materials Control:

  • Prepare material take-off (MTO) lists.
  • Review and coordinate suppliers' documents to finalize purchase orders.
  • Contribute to electrical system manufacturing and ensure material compatibility with tender documents.
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT) for power supply equipment.

Site/Construction Stage:

  • Conduct site visits to identify and solve site problems.
  • Resolve construction issues and document lessons learned.
  • Perform and update As-Built drawings.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master's or MBA/PMP is a plus.

Experience:

  • Proficiency in REVIT and AutoCAD.
  • Strong attention to detail and good customer-facing skills.
  • Familiarity with electric system modeling software; basic BIM knowledge preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Arabic and English is mandatory; French is an asset.
