Job Summary

The Asphalt Plant Labourer is responsible for supporting the asphalt plant team by performing a variety of physical tasks.

Main Responsibilities

• Clean up and maintain asphalt plants.
• Load, unload, and transport materials.
• Assist heavy equipment operators.
• Grease asphalt plant parts.
• Direct traffic around asphalt plants.
• Other duties as required. 
 

Qualifications

Education, Training and Certifications    
• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent preferred. 
• Valid driver’s license (Class 5).
• Own transportation. 
    
Work Experience    
• Experience is an asset.

• Ability to work around heavy equipment and knowledge of loaders.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions. 
• Ability to work as part of a team or independently.

Working Conditions

• Overtime as required.
• Ability to work weekends.
• Ability to work a 12 hour day.
• Must have the ability to work at heights. 
• Able to perform physically demanding tasks. 
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
• Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
• Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 40 lbs on a regular basis.
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
• Must comply with all company policies.
