Job Summary

The Concrete Labourer supports a construction team by performing a variety of physical tasks while learning and developing new skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the concrete finishers in the performance of their tasks as required.
• Competently operate a wheel barrow for placing concrete.
• Operate a screed or shovel to level freshly placed concrete.
• Apply the curing compounds and sealing compounds to core surfaces.
• Strip concrete forms.
• Place and tie reinforcing bar or mesh.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Maintain a positive company image. 
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education, Training and Certifications    
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred. 
• Valid driver’s license (Class 5).
• Own transportation. 
    
Work Experience    
• 0-3 years of experience.
• Road building experience is considered an asset.

• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work with a variety of tools.
• Ability to take direction and be a team player.

Working Conditions
• Overtime as required.
• Ability to work a 12 hour day.
• Must have the ability to work at heights. 
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
• Required to perform tasks that involve heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
• Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
• Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 90 lbs on a regular basis.
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
• Must comply with all company policies.
