Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
Summary
The Heavy Duty Equipment Technician is required to perform skilled tasks in the Maintenance and Repair of On and Off Highway Equipment as well as promote and participate in Goal Zero Safety Initiative. The incumbent will have the ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems, as well as have the ability to repair all necessary mechanical components.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain, service and inspection of equipment
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot heavy trucks and equipment
- Able to perform complete repair and overhaul functions in a timely manner
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance before sending equipment back to work
- Repair and/or replace defective parts
- In-depth knowledge of Trucks including air brake systems, ABS systems , DEF/DPF systems
- Demonstrate commitment to company policies, procedures, guidelines and initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to promoting a positive attitude towards Ethics, Goal Zero Safety, Core Values of Safety, Growth, Integrity
- Positively participate in company safety program and adhere to all safety requirements
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
- Other mechanical repair work as required.
Key Skills and Requirements
• Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and engine diagnostics.
• Experience with routine maintenance operations.
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally
• Able to work well under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to meet all safety requirements including a valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing.
Experience/Education
• Must hold a valid Alberta Journeyman’s certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal
• 5 years’ experience working with On & Off Road Construction Equipment
• Willing to obtain a Commercial Vehicle Inspections license
• Must have valid Class 5 driver’s license. Class 1/3 with Air Endorsement would be an asset.

Working Conditions
• Overtime as required, including some weekends
• Work both indoors and outdoors
• Be able to work various shifts (night/dayshift)
• Must be able to meet all safety requirements including pre-employment
