Job Summary

Working as a member of the Transportation Division, the Tandem Dump Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a Tandem Dump Truck to deliver materials to job sites as well as completing labour duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain a Tandem Dump Truck. 
• Plan travel schedules and routes.
• Complete pre and post trip inspections. 
• Secure loads for transport. 
• Complete labour duties such as shoveling, sweeping and moving barricades.
• Oversee condition of vehicle, maintenance and repair reports.
• Maintain daily logs, inspection logs, and other paperwork as required. 
• Maintain positive company image.
• Other duties as required. 

Qualifications:

Education, Training and Certifications    
• Grade 12 or GED preferred.
• Clean Class 3 drivers abstract with air brakes.
• Must have reliable transportation. 
    
Work Experience    
• Experience operating a tandem dump truck. 
    
Technical Skills
• Thorough knowledge of the city.

Working Conditions
• Overtime as required.
• Ability to complete physical labour including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Required to perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, crouching and strenuous movements.
• Working in confined areas.
• Use of personal protection equipment is required.
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances. 
• Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear required when working outdoors. 
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
• Must comply with all company policies.
