Job Summary

The Track Loader Operator is responsible for operating a track loader, preferably a 963 Cat. Physically fit in order to perform manual labour and work extended/long hours. Meet and support all company safety requirements and applicable safety policies.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate Track Loader.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment. 
• Facilitate daily safety checklists and complete related paperwork. 
• Work as a team coordinating with the foreman on a daily job scope. 
• Operate in a safe manner and adhere to legislative and company safety codes. 
• Oversee condition of vehicle, maintenance, and repair reports.
• Read blueprints to determine best method of getting assigned work completed.
• Operate machinery as necessary.
• Maintain positive company image. 
• Other duties as required. 
 

Qualifications

Education, Training and Certifications    
• High School or GED considered an asset.
• Must have a valid Class 5 (or better) driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
• Own transportation.
    
Work Experience    
• Previous construction experience. 
• Minimum 2 year experience operating a track loader. 
    
Technical Skills
• Functional understanding of underground utilities crew tools and machines.
• A willingness to learn and take new training programs to enhance their utilities knowledge.
• Have good hand, foot, and eye coordination.

Working Conditions

• Overtime as required.
• Requires extensive physical activity and dexterity. 
• May require extended periods of awkward/uncomfortable positions.
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances. 
• Required to perform tasks that involve standing, heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling for extended periods of time. 
• Must be able to life 40 lbs regularly. 
• Use of personal protection equipment is required.
• Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear required when working outdoors.
• Must be able to work outdoors in areas that are dusty and/or dirty. 
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
• Must comply with all company policies.
