Mission

The Aggregate Manager role at Colas Inc. offers a unique opportunity to be part of a world-class team in Cape Girardeau, MO. As a leading company in transportation infrastructure, we are committed to safety, innovation, and excellence. You will coordinate activities related to the production and delivery of ready-mix, aggregates, and asphalt products, focusing on safety, compliance, sales, customer service, and quality control.

Main Responsibilities

  • Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.
  • Support, promote, and practice the Company's core values, vision, and mission; follow the code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies.
  • Train and develop employees to perform at their highest level.
  • Effectively manage the work environment to ensure safety, environmental, regulatory, and production targets are met.
  • Ensure continual compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
  • Manage the activities of the quarry and pit crews to meet established business and production objectives.
  • Develop and support positive customer relationships to drive aggregate, ready-mix, and asphalt sales; respond quickly to customer needs.
  • Work with the quality control team to meet customer demand and manage production and dispatch of materials meeting required specifications.
  • Assist with the revision of production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operational issues.
  • Assist with maintenance scheduling and coordinate maintenance of equipment to keep equipment and facilities in top condition to optimize production flow.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including but not limited to email correspondence, timecard entry, handling documents and electronic files, etc.
  • Actively support and lead Company initiatives related to safety and employee development.
  • Monitor housekeeping of plants to ensure plant sites are clean and organized.

Education

  • Degree or equivalent experience in mining, manufacturing, civil, or a related engineering field preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required, commercial license a plus.
  • MSHA certification or ability to obtain certification required.

Skills

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience with aggregate production processes, including plant/crushing operations.
  • 1-2 years of experience leading and managing employees preferred.
  • Proven track record of maintaining a safe work culture.
  • Self-directed, committed, and highly motivated requiring minimal direct guidance.
  • Basic computer skills using MS Office and similar programs.
  • Ability to lead and direct the work of others.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Knowledge of rules/regulations governed by federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, including OSHA/MSHA, DEQ, and DOT applicable to the position.

Physical Requirements

  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), as required by company safety guidelines.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects.
  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and in writing (hear, talk, read, type, write).
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and walk across uneven terrain.
  • Frequent exposure to typical production plant/aggregate site conditions, including dust and loud noise, heavy equipment/machinery, and all-weather conditions.
  • Travel, including overnight stays away from home, may be required.
