Job Summary:
The QA/QC Technician 1 is responsible for sampling, testing, and reporting on construction materials—including but not limited to hot mix asphalt, aggregates, soils, and concrete —to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. They will ensure quality control procedures and systems are established and maintained. In addition, this role requires performing limited specialized laboratory testing and performance testing.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensures precision and accuracy when taking measurements and completing test forms
- Ensures test results are reported daily and on time to their supervisor
- Inspects products for quality, identify issues and take corrective actions as necessary
- Reviews and analyzes test results to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications as required
- Coordinates quality control activities with other departments to obtain optimum production and utilization of materials and resources
- Ensures that accurate test results are reported daily and on time

- Assists with coordination of external laboratories involved in testing processes
- Assists with ensuring all quality control operations and activities are conducted in conformance with company policies, regulatory agency guidance, and compliance standards
- Develops and recommends measures to improve methods, performance, service, safety and quality
- Travels to other offices and work locations to ensure QA/QC standards are being met as necessary
Skills:
- Technical quality control experience with a focus on aggregates, soils, and asphalt preferred
- Sound knowledge of applicable material testing standards and specifications governed by federal, state, and local testing agencies, including DOT, ASTM, and AASHTO standards
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision and resolve problems and technical issues
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to all levels of employees
- Ability to lead and train other QHSE employees
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Education:
- Valid Drivers’ License and ability to maintain a clean driving record
