Job Summary:

The Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the sales and marketing of aggregate products, including crushed stone, sand, gravel, HMA, and other construction materials. This role involves developing and executing sales strategies, managing customer relationships, and ensuring the achievement of sales targets. Additionally, the Sales Manager will lead and manage the sales team to drive performance and growth.

Main Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy Development: Formulate and implement sales and marketing plans for assigned territories.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers, including contractors, government agencies, engineering firms, and municipalities.
  • Market Analysis: Identify potential new products and markets and understand current unmet needs of customers.
  • Product Promotion: Proactively promote aggregate products and communicate their value to customers.
  • Sales Targets: Achieve sales objectives for all assigned territories.
  • Competitor Analysis: Monitor competitor activity and recommend necessary actions.
  • Construction Activity Tracking: Track and manage construction activity within assigned territories and bid on job opportunities accordingly.
  • Credit & Collections: Perform credit and collection duties to minimize outstanding receivables. 
  • Reporting: Prepare and present proposals, quotes, and product data information as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the operations team to drive efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction. 
  • Forecasting: Work with operations to accurately forecast sales volume needs.
  • Sales Team Management:

         Recruit, train, and mentor sales team members.

         Set performance goals and conduct regular performance evaluations.

         Provide guidance and support to the sales team to achieve individual and team targets.

         Foster a positive and collaborative team environment. 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in field and/or territory sales, preferably in aggregates, construction, asphalt, or concrete.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    • Proven negotiation skills.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical and market data.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Ability to travel.
    • Understanding of construction, concrete, HMA aggregates properties, specifications, and applications.
    • Knowledge of business and commercial contract terms and conditions.
